User-generated content (UGC) is material created by customers or community members rather than the brand — reviews, tweets, Reddit threads, screenshots, and forum posts. Search engines and buyers often trust UGC more than polished marketing copy because it feels independent.

Indie products win when real users talk about them in public. Encouraging honest tweets and reviews creates UGC you can cite, embed, and exchange.
Platforms sometimes mark UGC links as rel="ugc" (a nofollow variant). Still valuable for humans; pair with editorial dofollow mentions when SEO equity matters.
