Rich snippet — definition
A rich snippet is an enhanced search result that shows extra data — stars, FAQs, prices, or breadcrumbs — pulled from structured data (JSON-LD) on the page. It does not guarantee a ranking boost, but it can improve click-through when Google chooses to display it.
Why it matters for indie developers
Indie sites compete for scarce SERP real estate. Valid AggregateRating, FAQ, and DefinedTerm markup gives Google optional UI that makes your result look more trustworthy.
